During the holiday season, here at De Nigris we are often asked our favorite way to whip up a quick but impressive appetizer, one of our go to answers is "a cheese plate". However, sometimes a simple wedge of cheese just isn't enough!
To jazz things up a bit more than usual this holiday season, this simple appetizer is just the right thing. It’s a simple mix of berries, pecans, balsamic, citrus and honey… simmered down and poured across gooey cheese.
Balsamic Berry Baked Brie
2 - 8 ounce Brie
2 tablespoons De Nigris Balsamic Vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
zest of 1 lemon
juice of half lemon
1 cup blackberries
1 cup cranberries
1/2 cup pecans
fresh rosemary, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove top rind of Brie. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
In a small saucepan over medium heat add balsamic, honey, lemon zest, lemon juice, blackberries, and cranberries. Cook stirring often until cranberries burst and sauce has reduced. Stir in pecans.
Place heated Brie on serving platter and top with balsamic berry mixture. Add rosemary for garnish. Serve with crackers, pears, or crostini.
