Mediterranean-Inspired Tuna Filet Salad

Posted on 02 June 2019

Salads are timeless for every season and completely appropriate for every meal occasion from breakfast, lunch, dinner, picnics, and beyond. If you ever found yourself in a salad rut and looking for inspiration, consider canned whole tuna filets.

Canned whole tuna filets can be found at most specialty stores, health food coops and Internet shopping sites, such as amazon. They are usually packed tightly in glass jars in olive oil. The presentation of whole strips of tuna elevates it. Let’s face it, tuna is often a desperation-meal for those times when you are running low on pantry items and need a grocery run. Canned tuna is beautiful and out of the ordinary and, dare I say, quite gourmet.

This Mediterranean-inspired tuna filet salad is both beautiful and delicious. De Nigris Glaze’ Classic Original with Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is perfect complement as it adds an additional layer of thickness that boosts the flavors of the tuna and perfectly complements the feta cheese, red onions, pepperoncini peppers and green olives.

Makes 4

2 cups mixed greens (baby spinach and arugula)
4 green olives, thinly sliced
¼ red onion, thinly sliced
¼ cup feta cheese
12 slices Greek pepperoncini peppers
4 canned tuna filets, wild caught and packed in olive oil
De Nigris Glaze’ Classic Original with Balsamic Vinegar of Modena
Extra-virgin olive oil
Cracked black pepper
Sea salt

  • Evenly divide salad ingredients and plates: greens, olives, onions, feta, and pepperoncini peppers.
  • Add tuna filet to each salad and drizzle with De Nigris Glaze’ Classic Original with Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and olive oil and finish with cracked pepper and salt.
  • Serve and enjoy!
