Posted on 27 February 2019

Owner of the famous restaurant and historic landmark Anaheim White House Restaurant, Chef Bruno Serano has cooked for celebrities and dignitaries from all over the world. He began his culinary career at just 14 years old while working with his mother at their family restaurant in Northern Italy.

Chef visited the De Nigris boutique at FICO Eataly World in Bologna in 2018 and he loved our mission and aims, so he planned a visit to the De Nigris Balsamico Village, the first park in the world based on a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) product.  To receive the PGI status, the entire product must be traditionally and at least partially manufactured (prepared, processed or produced) within the specific region and thus acquire unique properties.

During his visit, a film crew took advantage of the beautiful location and the De Nigris commitment to telling the story of Italian food to get footage for a documentary on the Chef's life story.  And, what a story it is.

Through hard work and determination, Chef Bruno Serato worked his way up from busboy to owner of the world-renowned restaurant and historic landmark- The Anaheim White House. Known for its beautiful, elegant and delicious food, the restaurant continues to be well known for its philanthropy work. For years, Chef Bruno has inspired change around the world and strives to continue changing the lives of others.

In 2005, Chef Bruno Serato started changing lives when he launched his amazing non-profit, Caterina’s Club. Together, Bruno, his mother Caterina and the help of the restaurant staff began serving pasta to children in need, making the Anaheim White House the only restaurant in the world to serve over 3,500 free dinners to children in need every single night throughout Orange County, California.

Oh wait, he hasn’t stopped there- since the launch of Caterina’s Club, Chef Bruno has extended his mission to help the community through his charity, Welcome Home which moves “motel families” into permanent housing, giving them the assistance they need to find and afford apartments of their own. Recently, Chef Bruno has begun working with local underprivileged youth, diverting high school students from gangs and other bad influences by teaching them about the food, hospitality and service industries through his newest operation, Chef Bruno’s Hospitality Academy.

Now, that is a documentary we want to watch. Thank you, Chef, for visiting the Balsamico Village, you are welcome here any time.
