THe founding of the De Nigris Vinegar factory by Armando and Marcello.
For over three generations our family has dedicated itself to the production of vinegar with passion and knowledge, in the tireless search for the best possible quality product.
A story which began more than 120 years ago, when Armando De Nigris opened the first vinegar mill in Naples, immediately proving to be a great success with his clients.
This success was consolidated over the years to follow, when the running of the company passed to his son Marcello, who succeeded in launching De Nigris’s products onto the international market and in widening the product range to include the prestigious Balsamic vinegar.
A spirit of innovation that, thanks to the third generation of Master Vinegar Makers, still guides us today and allows us to offer our clients products of excellence, which are appreciated world-wide for their quality and creativity.
From passionate artisans to an international organisation, our company has always looked to the future, staying true to the family motto: “Boundaries do not exist”. From the lands of the Emilia-Romagna region to overseas markets, Balsamic Vinegar of Modena has taken its place as the Italian condiment par excellence.
Tradition and Innovation
A historical brand with a contemporary spirit. The ability to innovate while staying true to the ancient traditions of Balsamic vinegar has always been our guiding principle and has allowed us to consolidate our heritage over a period of more than 125 years. Authentic, natural, versatile and creative, our products are an invitation to seek out new taste experiences, because they inspire, exalting the flavours of dishes, enriching recipes and bringing a spark of creativity to the kitchen.
The quality of our products lies in the origin of the raw materials. We put our name to every De Nigris brand product, because ours is a family business and our reputation has always been inextricably tied to the excellence of our products.
Territory and Production
Modena Italy is one of the nine provinces of Emilia-Romagna, located in Northeastern Italy’s fertile Po River Valley. Not only is it the home of Verdi, Pavarotti, Lamborghini and Ferrari, it’s also the crown jewel of Italian Gastronomy. This is the birth place of tortellini, Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, mortadella and of course Balsamic Vinegar of Modena.
A blend of wine vinegar and concentrated grape must from 7 regional varietals of grapes (Lambrusco, Trebbiano, Sangiovese, Ancelotta, Fortana, Montuni and Albana), Balsamic Vinegar of Modena has been produced in Modena since the Middle Ages and appreciated during the Renaissance.
Artisan dedication on an industrial scale is only possible by paying the utmost attention to all the stages of the production process, a source of pride for our company as we directly control.
